Becoming an artist is a lifetime process. A life full of experience, time and circumstance help form the way you see things. It makes you want to express what you see and feel. I did not always consider myself an artist. Despite showing potential and latent interest in art earlier in life, my career began as a hobby. After years of studying under various artists, I began to develop my own style and technique. I expanded into other areas such as portrait painting. My commissions are limited to children and pets. My desire is to create a painting that captures not only physical characteristics but also the spirit within. Sandy
"I like painting women. Contemporary women seem freer with their energy.
I'm attracted to color but I find myself gravitating to the old masters' moodier palettes.
Using shadows offers dramatic qualities.
Influential in my work are artist such as John Singer Sargent.
On children; You can turn your favorite photographs into a work of art featuring your children. Some memories are meant to be something more than simply photographs stuffed in a box.
Pets; an original hand painted pet portrait is a beautiful way to celebrate your pet."
